My name is Andrew Bell, and I am your Course Director on the Certified Project Management Diploma. Through this course, we’ll help you develop the skills and knowledge needed for successful project management.

By the end of this training, you will be able to develop the necessary skills to effectively manage any size of project from beginning to end.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Initiate, plan, execute, monitor, control and close a project.
  • Compare actual performance with planned performance, to analyse variances, to assess trends to effect process improvements, to evaluate possible alternatives, and to implement appropriate corrective action as needed.
  • Effectively exchange accurate, appropriate and relevant information with stakeholders using suitable methods.
  • Guide, inspire and motivate team members and other project stakeholders to manage and overcome issues to effectively achieve project objectives.

Dr. Andrew Bell

PhD, MSc, BA, RPP, FAPM, SFHEA

Course Director

Andrew started his Project Management career with 15 years in the automotive industry at Land Rover where he quickly experienced the people side of delivering projects. He then spent 4 years as a Project Management Lecturer delivering short training courses on Project Management topics including Microsoft Project, and the related project management people skills.

Andrew then moved on to spend 13 years at Coventry University teaching Project Management and Research Skills, building his knowledge of Project Management and people issues with a PhD on the use of Project Management Simulations. He has volunteered for the APM for nearly 20 years, and has held committee positions on the Coventry Chapter, Midlands Branch, and National Branch Steering group and as chair of the People SIG committee.

Andrew is currently a ChPP Chartered Project Professional, a Fellow of the APM and also holds RPP status. Andrew has worked with the APM writing examination questions and reviewing membership applications.

Rob is a freelance project management consultant and educator based in London, UK. He has over 15 years’ experience managing projects, and helping organisations to manage projects better. In recent years, he has focused on strategic change projects in the food and hospitality industry. Rob also serves as a charity chair, non-executive director and board advisor.

Rob is a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute, the Association for Project Management and the Higher Education Institute. He is a certified PRINCE2 and Agile Practitioner. He holds an MBA (Technology Management) from the Open University and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching from BPP.

To start the course, go to My Dashboard and then click on View My Courses. Next, click on the course card, and it will open the course page. Here, you can find a menu under the page banner. Click on the option Course Content to find your course modules. All you need to do is to click on the first module to start.
Course access will expire in 26 weeks, starting from the date of course enrollment.
This course was designed to offer you complete flexibility in setting your learning pace. There are no schedule class sessions, so you can start any time you wish after enrolment. The lectures are pre-recorded to help you set your time for study.
Some topics will have downloadable files or exercises related to the lesson. You will find the downloadable resources above the video, in the top left corner. Click on the Materials tab to see the list of files available, and then click on the file name to download it.
You have 20 weeks to complete the course from the date of enrolment. You can plan your studies to best suit your busy schedule. We suggest doing at least 1 to 2 hours of study per week to complete the course within the access period.
After completing the course and passing the Knowledge Test, you will receive an IPM Certificate of Completion. This certificate will be sent to you on a separate email via Accredible.
IPM's on-demand courses offer students the opportunity to engage with fellow learners and the instructor through Comments and Q&A Forums.

You will find exercises and discussion prompts at the end of some lessons that prompt you to write a comment and share your thoughts. This is an area where you can ask questions and engage with other students. Each course also has a dedicated Q&A Forum, where you can submit your questions and receive an answer from the Student Support team or your instructor within 48 hours.

Yes, you can attempt the Knowledge Test up to two times free of charge. If by any chance you fail in your first attempt, please email us at courses@projectmanagement.ie to request your second attempt.

Further attempts will be granted at the sole discretion of IPM. An administrative fee will be applicable.
Remember to check the spam or junk folder to make sure the email with your certificate did not end up there.

You can make comments to ask questions, share insights and thoughts, or have discussions with fellow learners via the comment box that appears at the end of the study note section on each course topic.

Email with Login Details
Before the course starts, you will receive an email containing your login credentials to access My IPM. The Getting Started topic at the start of the course will provide with detailed instructions on how to navigate your course page to complete the course.

Flexibility to Study
You will have 12 weeks to complete the course you have enrolled on after receiving the enrolment confirmation email. You can study at any time during the day or night. You don't need to be online at the same time as the lead instructor or other learners.

Easy to Understand Course Structure
The course structure is quite easy to understand. Our courses are composed of different modules/units. Each module/unit has been divided into sub-topics. Each topic has a video, study notes, additional materials, and key terms to facilitate your study. At the end of each module, there is a quiz to test your understanding of the topic. Once you are done watching the video and reading the study notes and additional material, you can click on the Mark as Complete button at the bottom of your screen. You can watch each video as many times as you want and take notes from it.

Learn Online, Wherever You Are
You can learn from anywhere and from any device.
Professional Development Units (PDUs) are one-hour blocks of time spent learning, volunteering or tutoring. Collecting them is required to maintain a certification status. Different certifications have different demands/requirements for PDU maintenance.

As the profession of project manager grows and changes, maintaining your relevancy is a must. You have a significant competitive advantage by investing effort in sustaining your certifications. You can get a better position and a higher chance of being the solution the company needs.

The course is assessed through two written assignments (a self-assessment and a written project) and a 3-hour online exam at the end of the course (Multiple-Choice and Scenario style of questions).
You’ll receive your exam results via email within six weeks.
You can choose the order of sections, but starting with the multiple choice questions might be beneficial as you could find useful words or phrases for the written section. You can switch between sections as needed.
To pass the International Project Management Association’s professional certification level D, you need an average of 60% in the written exam. An overall average of 60% earns you a professional diploma, while a 40% pass mark grants a certificate of completion.

    This programme offers a credit-rated curriculum that provides a European Qualifications Framework (EQF) Level 6 Award (equivalent to Honors Bachelor's Degree level) validated by Technological University Dublin - Ireland's 2nd largest university.
  • Overview of Course Assessment

    The assessment for this course will be two written assignments (continuous assessment) and one final written examination.

    You will be asked to complete two assignments during the course. Each assignment includes instructions for how to complete and submit your work.

  • Final Written Examination

    The final written examination will be composed of a Multiple-Choice test and Scenario test. The exam will be taken online. The duration of the final written examination is 3.0 hours.

    The Multiple-Choice Question (MCQ) component includes 110 questions covering the course topics. The Scenario component will test your understanding of key concepts.

  • Course Assessment Marking Scheme

    Results will be processed after students submit the two written assignments and sit the final exam.

    The assessment structure for this course is divided as follows:

    1. Continuous Assessment (35%), which consists of Assignment 1 Competence Assessment (5%) and Assignment 2 Project Workbook (30%).
    2. Final Written Examination (65%), which is composed of two sections: the MCQ Test (30%) and the Scenario Test (35%).
  • Course Pass Mark

    The overall pass mark for TU Dublin NFQ Special Purpose Award is 40%.

    The overall pass mark for IPM Professional Diploma is 60%.

    The pass mark requirement for IPMA® Professional Certification is an overall average of 60% in the written examination (MCQs and Scenario) and interview.
